The Nike Heritage

Even though these three sun related medical problems, sunburn, heat exhaustion, and heatstroke, are not diseases, they can be serious and could put a real damper on your vacation. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and this is especially true when dealing with the sun. Remember that the sun’s rays in the tropics are more intense between noon and three p.m. as well as at high altitudes, even if it’s an overcast or cloudy day.
What can you do to prevent getting a sunburn?
In general, the fairer or lighter your skin is, the easier you may sunburn. Even clouds offer little or no protection from a severe sunburn. So why take a chance of ruining your holiday when getting a painful sunburn is easy to protect against? To prevent getting a bad sunburn, especially if you sunburn easily, use a high SPF (Sun Protection Factor) of 30, or stronger if possible. Use the sunscreen liberally, wear a wide-brimmed sun hat, choose UVA & UVB protection certified sunglasses, and wear a long-sleeved shirt and slacks. Try to stay out of the sun between noon and three in the afternoon. Build up your exposure to the sun gradually, day by day. Limit the length of time that you spend in the sun to about fifteen minutes the first day, and increase your time in the sun gradually on subsequent days.
If you get a bad sunburn, what can you do to treat it?
You can ease the pain of a sunburn by soaking in a cool bath three to four times a day. If you add some baking soda to each bath, it will help even more. Cool showers will probably hurt too much, and they are not as effective or soothing as cool, relaxing baths. To help with headaches, or pain and swelling, take aspirin or other pain medication such as Advil or Ibuprofen. Do not take any aspirin based pain medications if you are on blood thinners or have an ulcer. If you are not sure if it’s safe for you to take these pain relievers, check with a doctor or medical clinic. To avoid dehydration, drink at least six to eight glasses of water per day. Do not break any blisters if you can help it. Broken blisters can easily get infected, especially in the humid weather of the tropics. If they do break, wash them gently with soap and warm water.
If the sunburn doesn’t appear to be healing and you are still in pain after a few days, you develop a very high temperature or fever, have a splitting headache that just won’t go away, are vomiting or have diarrhea, feel dizzy or confused, or your eyes hurt and bright light bothers them, you need to see a medical professional immediately.
How can you prevent heat exhaustion?
Heat exhaustion is totally preventable. To avoid this serious problem, wear a wide-brimmed sunhat, drink lots of liquids, and stay out of intense heat and humidity.
What should you do if you have the symptoms of heat exhaustion?
Heat exhaustion is caused by a combination of very high temperatures and humidity. This may result in the loss of fluids from your body through excess sweating. These fluids must be quickly replaced or heat exhaustion can result.
The usual symptoms include headache, lethargy, fatigue, giddiness, as well as muscle cramps. The immediate treatment is to move out of the sun or heat and drink a lot of liquids, preferably commercial beverages containing electrolytes, such as Gatorade. Do not drink alcohol as it will make your condition worse.
If you don’t feel better and show positive signs of recovery within a very short period of time, have someone help you to get to a hospital or medical center immediately as your condition can easily progress into a true medical emergency called heatstroke.
What actions must you immediately take if you get heat stroke?
If heat exhaustion is not successfully treated immediately, it can result in a critical medical emergency. Heatstroke is characterized by an extremely high body temperature of 102 to 106 degrees Fahrenheit, or 39 to 41 degrees Centigrade. There is a cessation of sweating. The main symptoms of heatstroke include a flushed, red skin, a bad headache, confusion which can quickly progress into delirium and convulsions, which can then be fatal.
Note: Someone has to help you to get out of the sun or heat and rush you to a hospital immediately.

Oracle has said that Java is the primary reason it is purchasing Sun. But does Sun own Java? As the JavaOne lovefest kicks off June 2, Red Hat laid down a marker that says Oracle can’t buy something Sun doesn’t own.
I like the program’s name, JBoss Open Choice. I guess that’s because I first used the term “open choice” in a research project I did for Red Hat five years ago. The term reflected research I was seeing that said users wanted flexibility to choose between various licensing terms and conditions (Ts&Cs) and would never make decisions based on Ts&Cs but on functionality. Ironically I used it in this project to describe the program Red Hat had just kicked off to work with the Bull-spin-off Java Open Application Server (JOnAS). Of course that was before Red Hat acquired JBoss and began to limit user choice at least from a marketing perspective (from an open source development, Ts&Cs and cultural perspective, Red Hat users are not constrained).
According to Red Hat,
“…the JBoss Enterprise Middleware portfolio now includes solutions for all of the common Java application workloads; from simple web applications, to light and rich Java applications, to Java Enterprise Edition (EE) based applications. Moreover, JBoss platforms support a variety of popular programming models including Spring Framework, Seam and Google Web Toolkit. With this expansion, Red Hat now has one of the most comprehensive Java application server portfolios in the industry.”
They don’t say so specifically, but what they mean is,
“…as compared to Sun itself and even as compared to Sun after its middleware is merged with Oracle’s application server lineup.”
The really interesting thing is how infrequently Red Hat mentioned open source in its June 1 press release. Of course it could not avoid its standard boilerplate tag line about open source market leadership and all of the software discussed is available under open source Ts&Cs. But the emphasis — rightfully so — is on the open choice that users like you want.
Of course that leads to great debates about stacks of software vs. acquiring software a la carte. But I’ll leave that for another day.

Boom trucks, bucket trucks, crane trucks, and digger derrick trucks are utilized in a multitude of businesses and can be found on the side of our streets all the time. If you have ever driven down the street and stopped to watch as the electric company or telephone companies utilize one of these trucks, you would see a worker being airlifted up into the sky in the bucket. This truck is a bucket truck. Many individuals are not aware that this is what the vehicle that they use is. The main use of a bucket truck is to raise and lower a worker from a place that is way too high for a regular ladder to be used.
These vehicles can be bought in various shapes and sizes and is created to make the work easier for those individuals that use them. Bucket trucks can be used for various reasons, but the most popular is for use with telephone poles or power lines. By the workers using this type of vehicle, they are able to finish their work in a more efficient and safe manner.
The creation of this type of vehicle includes a bin for storage that helps to store tools or materials that may be needed by the worker in the bucket. Some models are also equipped with a double-arm boom or what is called a hydraulic outrigger jack. This helps to provide an extra degree of stability. Other models may be equipped with a separate engine that powers the bucket, while others use the engine of the truck to do this.
Any large piece of equipment must be handled by the proper guidelines. This does not mean that a bucket truck is hard to operate or not made well. It is just that all vehicles need the respect and care so that accidents are minimized. When the directions from the manufacturer are followed, a worker can see that they are more secure in knowing they will be safe while utilizing the equipment. There are also OSHA guidelines that need to be followed when using a bucket truck. Some of these rules are:
- The vehicle should be utilized to raise workers to any job location that is above the ground.
- The truck should be made of fiberglass, wood, metal, or reinforced plastic.
- The modification of a bucket truck is allowed as long if a modification approval has been received in writing by the manufacturer.
- This will include a safe distance away and making sure that qualified workers are the only ones to use the truck.
- Brakes must be set BEFORE a worker can be raised within the bucket.
- The truck should never be moved while a worker is in the bucket.
- All controls must be clearly defined by what each one does.
- Controls must be put to test each day BEFORE the truck is used.
- The manufacturer’s guidelines must be followed regarding distribution and load.
- This will include goggles, boots, hard hat, and gloves.
- The worker must have their feet firm upon the bottom of the bucket at all times.
- These lower controls are for emergencies only.
There are many more OSHA guidelines that must be followed as well. When workers are trained in the proper ways to use the vehicle, it can give years of secure support. Keep in mind that when the rules and regulations are followed correctly, the possibility of injury or death can be minimized greatly.

first i bought the hat and was wearing it when playing basketball touched the white part and got dirt on it, then spilled red kool- aid on the white part, now the hat is not as white and half is cover lightly with red, what is the best way to clean it and would it be best if i take it to the cleaners
